Walking Dead Mid-Season Finale Review

Image
After a huge time jump and major “ death ,” The Walking Dead Season 9 mid-season finale has a lot to live up to – and it doesn’t disappoint! Luckily, instead of filler scenes about the new threat coming our way, Daryl, Aaron, and Jesus find out pretty quickly that the walkers are not acting normally. It’s an uneasy scene with characters that I can’t wait to explore more (maybe minus Daryl). This, along with a focus on certain zombies in the herd, gives us a compelling introduction to the Whisperers. For those who aren’t familiar with Skybound’s The Walking Dead , the Whisperers are a hostile group of survivors who skin zombies and wear their skins to blend in with herds. The fact that these people will dress up in rotting skin every day says a lot about who they are and the lengths they are willing to go to survive. I would not want to mess with this group, and I’m eagerly waiting for more of this new and exciting threat. The next scene was just as compelling! As children

The Walking Dead 9x06 Review

Image
Six years have passed. The communities are thriving (most of them), and Rick still affects the group, even though he is presumed dead . Rick's death especially affects Michonne, and she constantly mourns his death. She is uncertain of his fate because she never found a body. Will we see Rick and Michonne reunite? Seeing as AMC told us Rick won't appear in the TV show again, chances are slim.  However, since Andrew Lincoln will portray Rick Grimes in three big-budget movies , their reunion is still possible if it is in a movie rather than a TV episode.  In this episode, we get to see a continuation of the scene we saw in last week’s episode. Judith Grimes, now ten years old, is helping a new group of survivors. These survivors include Magna, Luke, Yumiko, Connie, and Kelly. It’s revealed that Connie is deaf and communicates with her group members via sign language – ASL (American Sign Language). I love seeing more deaf representation in the media, and

Review of Rick Grimes' Final Episode

Image
After eight years, nine seasons, and 120 episodes, Rick Grimes' story has come to an end. In May of 2018, rumors arose that season nine of The Walking Dead would be Andrew Lincoln's last season as Rick Grimes. In July, those rumors were confirmed. This resulted in a lot of upset fans who threatened to stop watching the show once Rick left. This is not a good status for the show as fans were already upset about Carl's recent death in the past season. In the last episode of The Walking Dead , Rick was attempting to distract a group of walkers away from the recently built bridge. He is soon surrounded by zombies and he is thrown off his horse onto a metal rod. This episode starts with a hallucinating Rick trying to wake up season one Rick in the hospital. Then, the tables are turned and season one Rick wakes up current Rick to a horde of zombies coming his way. Rick struggles to release himself the pole that pierced him. Once he finally does, he weakly crawly to

Andrew Lincoln to Portray Rick Grimes in Three New Movies

Image
After hyping up Rick Grimes' last episode of  The Walking Dead , AMC has revealed that Rick Grimes is not done yet.  Huge news for fans of The Walking Dead ! According to the Hollywood Reporter , Rick Grimes will appear in three AMC movies! "The actor, who officially departed the flagship series Sunday, will reprise his role as Rick Grimes in a trio of big-budget, feature-length movies that will air on the basic cable network." In the most recent episode of The Walking Dead , Rick Grimes seemingly sacrifices himself to save his community and family from a massive group of zombies.  When he causes an explosion on the bridge, he is presumed dead. However, he is found by Anne. Anne brings him aboard a mysterious helicopter that is transporting Rick to an unknown location.  It looks like Rick's story won't be coming to an end after all. The first of three movies is currently being written by Gimple and will start production in 2019.  Th

The Walking Dead Season 9 Episode 4 Review

Image
This episode starts off with Michonne living a normal life. She is taking care of Judith, planning for the future, and taking care of issues within the community. She then sees her sword on the wall, a reminder of her former life, and heads out into the night to kill walkers. She seems to be enjoying herself and goes out multiple times. This brought back memories of one of my favorite moments from Skybound's The Walking Dead comic series. It was a panel of Michonne hanging up her sword on the wall, and she remembers all the zombies and people she hurt with it. This wasn't quite what happened in the show, but it gives us a good understanding of the internal struggle of identity that Michonne is going through. Will she be a leader or a warrior? Finally, the bridge that the communities have been working on is complete. However, it doesn't look like it was last in the long run. As the camps get ready to go home, Rick realizes he has to come to terms with the Saviors

Overkill's The Walking Dead Beta Review

Image
So, this weekend I got the chance to play the beta of Overkill's The Walking Dead. Unfortunately, since this is my first time doing this, my gameplay footage had no game volume! So I decided to write something up for you guys and let you know if I recommend you pick up the game.  So first off, I was pretty impressed with the graphics and how little lagging there was. I was a little worried those two things would be bad, and those are my biggest concerns with new video games. After buying Friday the 13th for Xbox One, I've been pretty paranoid. Luckily, matchmaking was extremely efficient and easy. It took me less than five seconds to get connected with my friend and to start a search to fill up the rest of the party. We were able to find other players easily and the game got started quickly. For some reason, none of us could figure out how to voice chat in the game, so my friend and I were disconnected from the rest of the party. This certainly made things diffic

The Walking Dead Season 9 Episode 3 Review

Image
The Walking Dead Season 9 Episode 3 In my last two reviews I have clearly stated that if The Walking Dead wants to survive, they will need to drastically change the structure of the show. I'm disappointed to say that it looks as if that change will not be coming this season. Thirteen minutes into the episode and we haven't gotten a single piece of new information. It feels like a long recap of the previous episodes.  We already know someone killed a Savior. We already know that tensions are rising between Saviors and the rest of the communities and we already know that Michonne is working on a charter. I could have skipped the first thirteen minutes of this episode, and it wouldn’t have mattered. Around the fifteen-minute mark, we FINALLY get something even remotely interesting. The Saviors all have different theories on who killed one of their own, and they all involve revenge theories from the recent war. It’s evident that the events of the past two sea

The Walking Dead Season 9 Episode 2 Review

Image
The Walking Dead Season 9 Episode 2 This episode starts with Rick talking to Negan in prison. He is talking about how they are not fighting for survival anymore, but a new beginning. Why do I feel like I’ve heard this same narration a thousand times? This is the kind of repetitiveness that The Walking Dead needs to rid itself of. It’s ok that they are beginning building a new world, but I’m sick of hearing long speeches about it. It is a waste of time that could be used to draw in viewers’ attention to something new. For example, I like Maggie’s new leadership role. Maggie is firm, strict, and will always stick to her beliefs. She also isn’t making bad decisions, which makes it hard to dislike her. She is doing what is best for her people and carefully planning ahead for future events, even if it makes her unpopular. This week, Maggie’s unpopular decision revolves around her unwillingness to give food to the Saviors until she gets fuel from them. There was s
