What We Learned from the Avengers: Infinity War Trailer

The trailer for Marvel's highly anticipated finale to the first three phases of the MCU has dropped today! As a result, there are a lot of things that were discovered about Avengers: Infinity War!

1. The Soul Stone could be in Wakanda

A major part of the new trailer shows many of the heroes protecting Wakanda from Thanos and the Black Order's army. Thanos wouldn't waste his time attacking a city that has no use to him, so why is he attacking Wakanda? Wakanda could be a hiding place for the last infinity stone, the Soul Stone. This theory is also supported by the Black Panther trailer when T'Challa is shown walking around some sort of spiritual realm. This could be possible with the Soul Stone.

2. Captain America gets his shield back

After the events of Captain America: Civil War, Captain America leaves his shield behind after Tony tells him that he doesn't deserve to have the shield. Now that Steve is back and the world needs Captain America, Black Panther says, "Get this man a shield".

3. Loki took the Tesseract

At the end of Thor: Ragnarok, Loki comes across the Tesseract and gives it a long look. The movie didn't show Loki actually grabbing the Tesseract, but it was assumed that he did. Now we have confirmation that Loki took it and it looks as if he is presenting it to Thanos. This is going to be bad news for Thor and the Asgardian people.

4. Tony will call Steve

After the events of Captain America: Civil War, Steve Rogers gives Tony Stark a phone so that he can reach out if need be. Well, it looks like desperate times calls for desperate measures because Tony is seen holding the same phone in Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum. It can be assumed that Tony and Steve will have to settle their differences to stop Thanos.

5. Thanos has the Space Stone and Power Stone

During one of the scenes from the trailer, Thanos is shown with a partially complete Infinity Gauntlet. On the gauntlet, there are two stones in place, a purple one, and a blue one. Based on the previous films, it can be assumed that Thanos has the Power Stone from Guardians of the Galaxy and the Space Stone aka the Tesseract from The Avengers and Thor: Ragnarok.

6. Groot has grown

It looks like Groot has done some growing since his last appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which was set in 2014. Four years later and Groot is now at his adolescent stage. James Gunn clears up that Groot is, "Not quite a teenager yet". I'm excited how a young Groot will react to meeting the Avengers from Earth and battling Thanos!

7. Vision becomes a human
In the trailer, we see Vision about to lose the Mind Stone. In another scene, we see Vision in a human form rather than his normal form that was created by Ultron. Maybe Thanos took the Mind Stone, but it didn't kill Vision. Instead, it could have turned him human with a lack of powers.

8. The first appearance of the Outriders
The trailer shows us a new creature in the MCU, the Outriders. Outrides are genetically engineered assassins that have only one goal: to serve their masters. They will do anything to complete their task and it looks like their task is to take the Soul Stone from the Wakanda people.

9. Peter's Spider-sense
In the past, there has been much debate on whether or not Spider-Man has spider sense. It was seen briefly in Captain America: Civil War when Bucky throws a large object at Peter. Peter's power is shown in depth when a strange ship appears above New York City.

10. War Machine returns

During Captain America: Civil War, Rhodey aka War Machine falls from the sky and takes a hard hit. The last time we saw Rhodey, he was attempting to recover from the fall and had spinal issues that made it difficult for him to walk. Well, War Machine is seen in the battle of Wakanda so either someone else took the mantle or he made a miraculous recovery!

No matter what happens, fans are sure to flock and see Avengers: Infinity War in theaters. Marvel also released a new synopsis of the upcoming movie.

An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. Anthony and Joe Russo direct the film, which is produced by Kevin Feige. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee are the executive producers. Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely wrote the screenplay. “Avengers: Infinity War” releases in U.S. theaters on May 4, 2018.

What did you think of the Inifinity War trailer? Did it live up to the hype?

  1. To be fair, I believe Loki looks quite frightened in that scene. Once Thanos or the Black Order have demanded Loki hands over the Tesseract, he will probably be eager to do so because he knows that they are out of his league. Thor and Hulk will probably try to prevent this which leads to them being separated (Hulk landing on earth and Thor with the Guardians) Banner and Thor then explain to both teams what is going on and the gravity of the situation.

I hope Loki eventually joins the good guys and plays a part in defeating Thanos.

  2. Well, that shows that Black Panther will bring nothing to the MCU other than a couple of characters... And also kills my dreams of seeing Bucky as Cap. Still, cant wait to see it.

    1. There may still be time for Bucky to become Cap!

  3. I agree, Loki looks scared and tussled up like after a fight. May be he turns over the Tesseract as a least resort.

    1. Maybe, either way I can't wait to see how it plays out.

  4. I think Loki's angst and tears (?) are the result of Thanos's attack on the ship bearing Thor, Loki, and the remaining Asguardians. He will attack looking for the stone. The carnage will result in most Asguardian's death ... But Sif IS still missing. She may be the only true Asguardian woman left! Are she and Thor the only way to carry that line?
