'The Walking Dead' Season 8 Episode 2 Review: 'The Damned'

Image
Walking Dead aired “The Damned” last night. The episode is the second of the eighth season and included fast-paced action, a throwback to the first season, and fresh new ideas.   Even though the show is now moving quicker than usual, it is still an improvement on the storyline from The Walking Dead comic series. This episode was everything I wanted from the comics. The comics are very fast-paced, which is a major strength. However, I wanted the war with the Saviors to be fleshed out more. The show took a weakness from the comic and satisfied all fans with their additions to the storyline.   Another one of the strengths of this season is the war mood is much more evident than it was in past seasons. In season 3, the "war" with the governor didn't feel like a war at all. Half a season was spent talking about war and then there was little payoff. This has been a common theme in the show and this season sets out to change that.  Season 8 actually fe...

The Walking Dead Season 8 Premiere Review

Image
The Walking Dead season 8 premiere marks the show’s 100th episode and the beginning of the famous storyline, All Out War. There was a lot of anticipation for the episode, which was titled "Mercy", and the show did not disappoint. Throughout the episode, there was a very clear sense of what everyone was fighting for. They were fighting for their friends, family, and their future. Rick is fighting for the future as well as his personal vengeance against Negan. The new introduction was great as always. Each character gets their unique title card and new additions always work extremely well. I’m glad they still show the shot of the walker strolling through the field from Season 2. Near the beginning of the episode, there is a scene where Carl is scavenging for gas. This was a mirror scene of the first episode of the series where Rick is getting gas while heading to Atlanta. This scene was a great throwback and a subtle way of celebrating the show’s 100th episod...

The Walking Dead Universe Crossover Confirmed

After over two years of saying it would never happen, we are finally getting a  Walking Dead  and  Fear the Walking Dead  crossover! Ever since Fear the Walking Dead premiered in August of 2015, creators of both shows stated several times that the two shows would never cross over. However, Robert Kirkman, creator of  The Walking Dead , has now said otherwise! The news was confirmed this weekend at The Walking Dead's panel at the New York Comic Con.  "I think that we've finally gotten to a place with Fear the Walking dead where it has its own identity," Kirkman said. "there are two  Walking Dead  shows, I'm not going to name them, but there are two...There is one character that is going to go from one show that will go from one show and appear in the other show, that I will not name." Although fans don't know what character will be part of the crossover, they sure have something to look forward to. It will be a challenge ...
